Making Brownies on Memorial Day

Today was a holiday. Memorial Day

LB loves to bake with me. This night, I was hungry for brownies it was raining out side, so why not bake some inside?
We whipped up our brownie batter - of course with a little "Lincoln Spice". As I was getting the pan ready, I remembered that my coworker had told me about making brownies in the waffle maker. So I thought we might try that too. I got out the waffle maker, plugged it in and waited for the light to tell me it was ready. I poured the batter in and waited for the light to go off to, once again, tell me the brownie was ready now.

So, LB & I tasted the brownie made in the waffle maker. It was ok. I let it cook too long so it was dry.
I poured the rest of the brownie mix in the 9x9 pan and cooked it in the oven. Much Better!
We had fun baking!

After it finished raining at our house, we went for a walk and LB couldnt resist walking in the mud puddles. He had such a great time getting all wet. He laughed and laughed at his feet & pants getting wet. The rain was nice. It came hard & fast, but we will take it with the dryness we have had in the past. 

Something we havent seen in a while...

Rain. Praise the Lord, we are getting rain at our house today! There have been a few days when it seemed like every one around us has been getting rain except us. Not today. Love the rain & the smell of rain!

Little finds

Check out the finds I got over the weekend. Cloth napkins, glass jars & an old bottle. The jars & bottle I plan on using at an upcoming bridal shower, and the napkins--well, sometimes it's just nice to have a cloth napkin instead of paper.


Over the weekend, Lincoln & I went shopping in Colorado City and the on to Snyder . We had a great time. He loved going to all the stores, especially the ones I would put him down in so he could walk around. I was looking for some kind of toy box to put in our living room. I was unsuccessful in finding that but I found a few other things and had a fun time with Lincoln!

Easter 2012

Easter is a wonderful time of year. The flowers are blooming, there has usually been rain and Easter Sunday means that Jesus rose from the grave & conquered death so that we can have eternal life.
It also means pictures in the blue bonnets. I know, I know its so cliche, but they are just so pretty and so Texas. Here are a few from the other day.

 After lunch on Sunday, we went outside to play. We got out his water table that he got from Nana & Poppy for Christmas. He loved playing in the water & then the mud. This boy is definitely an outside kind of kid.

I completed my first 5k...

in the drizzling rain. YEAH!
I really am proud of my self & my friend Michelle for completing this even in the bad weather!
In case you didn't know, a 5k is 3.1 miles. This 5k was a fundraiser for the Rodney Holder Scholarship fund in Abilene Texas. It took us just over 41 minutes to complete out walk. We got slower as we got to the end of walk because our shoes and pants acted like ankle weights since they were soaking wet. I asked this nice man to take a picture of us with the finish sign in the background. I guess, he technically got the Finish sign in the background...

Will we do it again, yes, next month is the Abilene Mayor's 5k. Im planning on completing this one too. Hopefully the weather is better!

this morning

I love it when you go through the drive through at McDonalds and you order a sausage biscuit with egg and you get down the road only to find you have no egg...At least they got my coffee right.
